		<title>Congratulations Tony Poker!</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Tony Poker, a high school student at M.I.N.S., won fourth place in the Canadian Aboriginal Arts Challenge for the artwork on the left.  It is titled &#8216;My Mother&#8217;s Song&#8217; and is a depiction of his mother as a young girl.  Congratulations Tony!  We&#8217;re all very proud of you!

		<title>Candace Toma Wins National Writing Competition</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Candace Toma won the 7th Annual Canadian Aboriginal Writing Challenge, presented by the Historica Dominion Institute. Since its inception, the writing challenge has become the largest and most recognizable essay writing competition in Canada for Aboriginal youth.
Her story, titled “Ghosts of the Future”, was the winning entry in the 14-18 year old youth category. Candace won a $2500 cash prize, an all expense paid trip for two to Toronto for the awards ceremony, and her story will now be published in a national magazine.  Congratulations Candace!

		<title>6th Annual Kamataukatshiut Festival Feb. 14 &amp; 15</title>
		<description><![CDATA[The 6th Annual Kamataukatshiut Festival will take place in Natuashish at the school gym on February 14th and 15th.  The Festival, put on by members of the Wonderbolt Circus (www.wonderbolt.ca), will teach students to juggle, stilt walk, ride unicycles, spin plates, and perform circus antics.  On February 14th, there will be a workshop with Innu youth between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.  On February 15th, there will be show at 10:30 AM in the school gym that will be open for the public to attend.

		<title>OLI Begins in Natuashish!</title>
		<description><![CDATA[The Outside Looking In (OLI) dance program started last week in Natuashish!  OLI will be practicing Monday to Thursday between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room.  Students please return your signed contracts to Sarah or Margaret.  Special thanks to Tracee, Stephanie, and Levy, our hip hop dance instructor from New York City.  For more information, check out www.olishow.com

		<title>Happy Holidays Students!</title>
		<description><![CDATA[The School Christmas Concert will be held Tuesday, December 14th at 6:00 PM.  The doors of the Multi Purpose Room will open at 5:30 so come early to get a great seat!
The last day of school  is Thursday, December 16th.
School reopens for all grades on Monday, January 3rd, 2011.

		<title>No School on Thursday &amp; Friday (Nov. 11 &amp; 12)</title>
		<description><![CDATA[There will be no school for students on Thursday, November 11th because of Remembrance Day.  There will no school for students on Friday, November 12h because staff will be attending a workshop on First Aid training.  If weather prevents the First Aid trainers from arriving Friday, staff will receive a workshop on how to use their Smartboards in the morning and have committee meetings in the afternoon.
Regular classes resume on Monday, November 15th.

		<title>The first MINS yearbooks have arrived!</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Last week, the first MINS yearbooks that have ever been published were delivered to the school.  They have a glossy cover, class pictures, and lots of color photographs from all of last year&#8217;s best events.  M.I.N.S. is selling the 2009-2010 yearbooks for $20 per copy and they are available at the school office.  The proceeds will go towards this year&#8217;s school events, such as the Outside Looking In dance program.
Thanks to last year&#8217;s yearbook committee:  Raylene O&#8217;Leary, Jenny Pickett, Devon Conway, Nola Patterson, and Kris Schuetzek.

		<title>Parent-Teacher Meet &amp; Greet on Wednesday (November 3)</title>
		<description><![CDATA[We would like to invite all parents, grandparents, and guardians to a Parent-Teacher Meet &#38; Greet at the school on Wednesday, November 3rd between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.  Snacks and refreshments will be served.  If you cannot attend on Wednesday and would like to meet your student&#8217;s teachers, please contact the school.
Parent-Teacher interviews will be held in early December.

		<title>Welcome Back Students!</title>
		<description><![CDATA[The 2010-11 school year has begun and we have some information that we would like to share with parents and guardians regarding dismissal times:
Students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 3 will be dismissed at 11:15 AM and 2:15 PM.  All other students will be done school at 11:45 AM and 3:00 PM.
